LE MONDE OU RIEN
Le Monde Ou Rien presents the iconographic research conducted by Angelo Leonardo in collaboration with youth and adolescents living in the outskirts of Milan. Conceived as a long-term photographic investigation developed between 2020 and 2024, the project focuses on neighborhoods located beyond the city’s second ring road, outside the outer ring, treating them as an expansive and interconnected territory.
Following a protest in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, Leonardo began spending time with groups of teenagers in the San Siro and Barona districts, capturing the initial images of a project that would unfold over four years. The author spent extended periods within the neighborhoods of Cinisello, Rozzano, Bovisasca, and Quarto Oggiaro, building relationships rooted in consistency and proximity.
Through this photographic practice, the subjects of the images become active participants, steering the project toward a participatory and shared dimension.
Style of dress, language, the desire for self-assertion, music, the lack of structural alternatives, and multiculturalism emerge as recurring coordinates. These elements lead Leonardo to observe different contexts as parts of a single symbolic place, defined by its own distinct identity.
